ABOUT DR. BLAUDEAU

Dr. François M. Blaudeau is a trial attorney and obstetrician-gynecologist, bringing a rare dual perspective to complex medical litigation. Over the course of his medical career, he delivered more than 9,000 babies before transitioning to gynecological surgery while continuing the practice of law and the growth of his law firm Southern Med Law.

After earning his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completing his residency in OBGYN at Tulane University School Of Medicine at Charity Hospital New Orleans. Dr. Blaudeau established a private OB-GYN practice in 1991 in Birmingham, Alabama. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the Birmingham School of Law in 1998 and began litigating high-profile medical malpractice cases across the country. Dr. Blaudeau served six years on the Governing Board for the American College of Legal Medicine and served as President of the American Academy of Legal Medicine.

Dr. Blaudeau has handled a substantial number of wrongful death cases and complex medical negligence claims nationwide, including cases involving birth injuries, Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and surgical negligence. He has represented clients across numerous jurisdictions across over thirty States and has secured millions of dollars in recoveries. His practice today focuses primarily on medical negligence, medical device, personal injury and mass tort litigation.

In addition to his legal work, Dr. Blaudeau founded the Southern Institute for Legal and Medical Affairs, dba Southern Med Law dedicated to advancing patient and physician advocacy. His work sits at the intersection of medicine, law, and public policy, with a focus on accountability and patient safety. Dr. Blaudeau has tried cases in many states and enjoys being in the courtroom and the operating room.
